Betty (Meade) Jenkinson, age 76 of Van Lear, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Mountain Manor of Paintsville. Born October 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Merle Meade and Beatrice Meddings Meade. She is survived by two sons, David Edward Blair and Kenneth Lawrence Blair; two brothers, Charles Thomas Meade of Van Lear and Michael Dean Meade of Minnesota; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. A Graveside Service will be held 4:00pm Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Father Hoppenjans will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Rose Messer Dingess Aldridge 80, of Wayne, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11, 2017, at her home. She was born in Stonecoal, West Virginia on December 8, 1936, to the late Jesse and Nora Dillon Messer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Willis Aldridge, one grandson, Roger Dingess Jr., three great-grandchildren, Delanie Rose Brewer, Emily Rose and Ben Dingess, two brothers and one sister. Rose is survived by five son, Jesse Dingess of Genoa, West Virginia, Albert (Sharon) Dingess of Lovely, Kentucky, John (Carol) Dingess of Crum, West Virginia, James Dingess and Roger Dingess both of Wayne, West Virginia, two daughters, Linda (Jimmy) Little of Wayne, West Virginia and Nora Johnson of Van, West Virginia, along with 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Jimmy Messer. Rose was a christian for over 60 years. Funeral services will be held at the Golden Springs Freewill Baptist in Kermit, West Virginia on Monday, August 14, 2017, at 1:00 pm with Ray Patrick officiating. Timothy Dale Preece

Timothy Dale Preece age 52, of Kermit, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Marrowbone Creek, West Virginia. Born on February 7, 1965, in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Wilburn Thomas and Mary Virginia Castle Preece. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by brothers, William, James and Steven Preece and nephew, Jason Kominar. Tim was a graduate of Kermit High School, a former employee of Lee Sartin Trucking and a 40 year member of the Kermit Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Assistant Fire Chief at the time of his death. He also was a Certified Master Diver, having participated in numerous search and rescue missions. Left to mourn his passing are his daughters, Chanda Grace and her husband, Dwayne Grace and son, Logan Chance (Kelsey) Preece. Additional survivors include; brothers, Tommy (Jan), Donnie (Angie) and Reco (Robin) Preece, sisters, Mary Ann (Steve) Kominar, Emma (Ronnie) Muncy, Linda Gail (Riley) Sartin, Brenda Preece, Debbie (David) Dodd, Robin (Doug) Collins, Michelle Preece and Stella (J.R.) Hinkle. A proud Papaw, to Caitlin, Carissa, Cassidy and Chance Grace and was excited for the arrival of Baby Boy Preece in December 2017. Alvin Bruce Stepp 64, of Kermit, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, Kentucky. He was born Cabell County, West Virginia on June 20, 1953, to the late Thomas J. Stepp Sr. and Beulah James Stepp. Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Julina (Julie) Baisden Stepp, one daughter, Tina (Eldon) Crum of Kermit, West Virginia, three granddaughters, Emilee Hopkins, Hannah Hopkins and Nevaeh Crum and four siblings, Thomas (Gail) Stepp Jr. of Stepptown, West Virginia, Gary (Liz) Stepp of Crum, West Virginia, Mary Lou Moore and Kathy (Leo) Collins both of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, Tim Marcum, who was like his brother. He was known as “Papaw” to Austin, Jacob, and Bernagin. He was an avid hunter and a disabled coal miner.
