Mary Ellen Parsley, 79, of inez, KY passed away Friday, December 9, 2011.

She was born August 24, 1932 in Martin County, KY, the daughter of Will and Angeline Crum McCoy.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Parsley [2010] her brothers, Floyd, Clyde, Robert, Bill, and John McCoy, and her sisters, Shirley Jude and Ollie Mitchem.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn [Terry] Spence and Leanna [Scott] Crum, all of Coldwater Rd., Inez, KY, Retha [Phillip] Adams of Tomahawk, KY, and Karen [Bruce] Workman of Louisa, KY; grandchildren, Brad Duncan, Angie Newsome, Krissy Duncan, Justin Adams, Brittany Parsons, Jennifer Workman, and Jessica Workman; great-grandchildren, Anika and Alex Newsome, Wesley and Tristan Adams, Chloe Pattlynn Mills, Addison, Avery, and Ryder Duncan; and her sister, Ethel Oinson of Columbus, OH.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 in the chapel of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, KY with Tim McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Shores Memorial Gardens, Inez, KY.

The family will receive friends at 6:00 PM, Sat., December 10 and Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the funeral home.

Howard Brewer, 74, of Kermit, WV passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV after an extended illness. Howard was born on Marrowbone Creek, WV on July 14, 1937 to the late Mike and Alice Brewer.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters, Prentice Brewer, Elmer Brewer, Shirley Spaulding, Lillian Hodge, Cooper Brewer, Grethel Dockery Maynard and Billy Brewer.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rosie Copley Brewer; three daughters, Carolyn “Jeannie” (Steve) Mollett of Kermit, WV; Connie Brewer of Stanford, KY; Barbara “Ann” Brewer of Kermit, WV.; brother, Robert (Helen) Brewer of Columbus, OH; sister, Christine (Steve) Carpenter of Ormond Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Stephen ”Bubby” (Staphaine Staley) Mollett of Columbus, OH; Ashley “Peanut” (Travis) Thompson of Lenore, WV; Janie Brewer of Kermit, WV and Kathryn Davis of Stanford, KY; two great grandchildren, Payton and Braxton Thompson or Lenore, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be between 6p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, KY with a prayer service at 6:30pm with Joe Mullins officiating. Cremation will follow.

At Howard’s request, there will be no funeral services.

Fannie Lou Ward, 73, of Inez, KY passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 Hospice House of Ashland, KY.

She was born July 9, 1938 in Martin County, KY, the daughter of Henry and Virgie Ferrell Copley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Talmage Ward SR.

Fannie is survived by sons, Talmage [Kathy] Ward of Ulysses, KY, Steven [Arlynna] Ward of Paintsville, KY, Greg [Tammy] Ward of Georgetown, KY, Ryan [Angel] Ward and Eric Ward all of Louisa, KY, daughters, Karen Hatfield of Morehead, KY. Tammy Ward of Inez, KY, and Teresa [Ervin] Stepp of Warfield, KY, brothers, Basil Copley of Jackson, OH, Robert Copley and Allen Workman, both of Davenport, FL, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Fannie, a longtime employee of Inez Shoprite, will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm, Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 in the chapel of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Osborn officiating. Burial will follow in the Saltwell Cemetery, Inez, KY.

Elmer Ray Fitchpatrick Jr. 49 of Hiddenite, NC; passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in North Carolina. He was born on July 20, 1962 in Heidelberg, Germany to Elmer Ray Fitchpatrick Sr. of Johnson County, KY and Ina F. Cline Farley and her husband, Charles Farley of Hiddenite.

Jr. was a training supervisor for Duke Energy McQuire Plant. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn “Bobbie” Fitchpatrick.

Survivors include his wife; Angeline McCoy Fitchpatrick of Hiddenite, NC formerly of Martin County, KY; his children, Adrissa Fitchpatrick Payzant of Muncie, Indiana, Miranda Fitchpatrick of Muncie, Indiana, Bobby and Billy Joe Moore both of Warfield, KY and Jennifer Maynard of Beauty, KY. Jr. is also survived by his sisters, Donna Perry of Johnson County, KY and Karen Boleyen of Greenwood, Indiana as well as 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 1:00pm at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez Chapel with Joe Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the McCoy-Howard-Estep Cemetery of Inez, KY. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Friday and Saturday at the chapel. Oscar A. Mollett, age 86 of Inez, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Highland Regional Medical Center. Born April 2,1925 in Martin County, he was the son of the late James and Mary Mollett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Elzie Benjamin Mollett, David Ralph Mollett, Joseph Anderson Mollett, James Edward Mollett, and Clarence Mollett; sisters, Altie Marie Mills and Alberta Lenore Hensley. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Faye Lilly Mollett of Inez; two brothers, William Granville Mollett of Springfield, Ohio and Arthur Paul Mollett also of Springfield, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the chapel of Phelps & Son Funeral Home with Larry Goble and Willie Goble officiating. Burial will follow in the Mollett Family Cemetery at Tomahawk, KY. Visitation will be after 5 PM Monday all day Tuesday, till time of services on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Herman Hammond , age 75 of Inez, passed away Sunday, December 11,2011 at his home. Born January 12,1936 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Charles and Oma Delong Hammond. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Hammond. Three son Claude Eddie Hammond, Jeffery Hammond and Bruce Carr. Three brothers Claude, Charles Edward and Thurman Hammond. Two sisters Opal Endicott and Emily Horn. He is survived by  three sons; William Billy Carr of Inez, Ky., Kevin Maynard of Ft. Gay WV. and Herman Russell Hammond  of Ypsilanti Michigan. Two daughters Vera Hammond and Debra Kay Hammond of Inez, Ky. and one daughter-in-law Shelia Hammond of Inez, Ky. one brother Donald Ray Hammond of Akron, Ohio, one sister Helen Graham of Irving, Texas. Ten grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews also survive.     Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday  December 14,2011 in the chapel of Phelps & Son Funeral Home with Garrett Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Fluty Lick Cemetery in Inez. , Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday all day Tuesday till time of services on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Basil Muncy 76 formally of Old Fork of Jennies Creek, West Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday December 9th, 2011 after a long illness. Basil was born December 14th, 1934 in Wayne County, WV. to the late Burley and Violet (Marcum) Muncy.

Mr. Muncy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janie Muncy; brothers Flem and Burley Ray Muncy and sisters Ova Scott, Faye Copley all of Columbus, OH. and Delphia Kirk of Breeden, WV.; Seven children Ralph and wife Maria Muncy, Basil JR. and his wife Teresa Muncy, Linda and her husband Stewart Martin all of Crum, WV.; Carter Muncy, Marsha and her husband Jerry Newsome, Pattie and her husband Alan Newsome all of Kermit WV., and Violet and her husband Mike Dillion of Mount Sterling, KY., twenty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Throughout his life Basil worked in the Logging industry and very active in local politics. Basil enjoyed studying the Bible and was a member of the Welcome Home Church of Jennies Creek, WV. He now waits to meet his loved ones in Heaven.

Funeral 1pm Monday December 12, 2011 at the Jenny’s Creek Freewill Baptist Church (the Yellow Church). Friends may pay their respects at the church Saturday after 5 PM all day Sunday and till time of services Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps and Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Tanna Marie Meek, age 47 of West Van Lear, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Meek; her mother and father, John P. Salyers and Shelby Horn Salyers of West Van Lear; one son, Benjamin Meek of West Van Lear; and three brothers, Matthew and Mark Salyers both of Paintsville and John Salyers of Florida. She is preceded in death by a brother, Luke Salyers.

Funeral services will be 1PM Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Roy Penix will officiate. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 3PM to 9PM Tuesday and until the time of service on Wednesday.
